About Us

 

Our mission at The Little Green Learning Tree of Flint is to provide young children with a safe and nurturing environment that fosters learning through hands-on experiences. We focus on all areas of child development with an added emphasis on art, healthy living, and community involvement.

 

The LGLT of Flint is an eco-friendly, home based early learning program that offers both a full day  infant/toddler program for our littlest learners (6 weeks to 18 months), as well as full day, mixed age preschool  for children ages 18 months-5 years. Our curriculum is influenced by the Reggio Emilia Approach. We believe in a balanced curriculum with both child directed and teacher initiated learning experiences. The best way for children to learn is through play and discovery! 

 

Our program runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. We provide all natural whole food meals and snacks. Our ingredients are purchased local and/or organic whenever possible. We have a mixed age classroom that provides great opportunities for children to learn from one another. 

 

Our classroom has an array of classic learning tools as well as organic materials to encourage active exploration of the environment. Our purpose is to foster the development of the total individual by meeting the needs of our children through security and trust. The "homey" feel of our learning environment helps to reinforce that sense of security and comfort. 

 

Art plays a big role in our program. There are always materials available for children to create and express themselves. Healthy living, environmental responsibility, and community involvement are important lessons that we hope to instill in our students. Here at the Little Green Learning Tree, we want our little learners to grow up taking care of their minds, bodies, and the world around them.
